Hello Ravenswood Rams and World Community!
Everything that has ever happened or will happen is a story. Whether it is fiction or non-fiction, in drama we explore stories from every possible perspective. In any given story, a class can become the main character , supporting characters, author, even the affected audience. In drama we ask questions, engage in research, envision and enact outcomes, then start the whole process over again, just to learn from it. In a nutshell, drama is learning from the process. In specific terms, drama comes from the Greek word, δρᾶμα, or “drama,” meaning “to do” or “to act.” In learning through drama, we learn through acting, but more importantly, we learn through doing.

Cast List is Posted!!
Dear Parents and Community Members,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am thrilled to share some exciting news regarding the recent auditions for our upcoming musical, Willy Wonka Jr.! A staggering 78 students from grades 4 to 8 participated, showcasing their incredible talent and enthusiasm for the performing arts.
First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every student who auditioned. Your dedication, courage, and passion for the arts were truly inspiring. It was a joy to witness the diverse range of talents that our students possess, making the casting decisions an incredibly challenging task.
I am proud to be part of a community that fosters such a vibrant and creative environment for our young performers. The audition process revealed the depth of talent we have within our school, and I am confident that this musical will be a fantastic showcase of our students' abilities.
The cast list has been finalized and will be displayed on the board outside the drama room, in the 4th through 8th grade hallways, the front office, and the drama website on the Willy Wonka Jr. menu option under "Productions". Here's the link to that page.
Now, as the casting decisions have been made, I understand that not everyone will have received the role they were hoping for. Please know that the decision-making process was difficult, as each student brought something unique and special to the auditions. I am genuinely proud of everyone who took the stage, and I want to commend each participant for their hard work, dedication and bravery.
For those who did not receive a role this time, I encourage you to view this as an opportunity for growth and development. The audition process is not just about casting roles; it's about honing your skills, gaining confidence, and learning more about yourself as a performer. I genuinely hope that those who did not get cast will consider auditioning again next year. Your persistence and commitment to the arts are truly commendable, and I believe that your continued efforts will lead to even greater successes in the future.
Once again, thank you to all the students, parents, and community members who support our vibrant drama program. I am eagerly looking forward to the rehearsals and the final production, which I am confident will be a spectacular showcase of our students' talents.
Warm regards,
Mr. Guidry
